If you’re going to open your show with a Crystal Castles song you’re going to have to follow it up with something even more 'indie' and 'credible', so why not include noise-pop twosome, Sleigh Bells and more Crystal Castles?
The soundtrack to Fyodor Golan's S/S14 collection did an excellent job conveying emotions such as nostalgia and vulnerability, the highlight being ‘Child I Will Hurt You’ by Crystal Castles which reflects upon the show entitled ‘Electric Children'. The song possessed a sorrowful tone making the runway experience somewhat emotive and the rather clinical nature of the setting seemed fitting for the opening song: 'Plague'.
'The Son of Flynn' OST of the film Tron: Legacy (a scored conducted by Daft Punk) bolds the 'electric' nature of the show, possibly hinting that the science fiction was an influence for the designers. The film features luminous motorcycle wear which may have been an inspiration for the designers to explore biker elements in this collection. Also, the boys favoured soft pastel hues in the collection reminiscent of the colour scheme of the original Tron movie released in 1982.
‘Infinity Guitars’ by Sleigh Bells also reflected motorcycle wear elements, as Sleigh Bells’ sound and image could easily be described as somewhat ‘biker’, conjuring up images of teen angst and youth.
The finale track was ‘Heroes’ by David Bowie, which ended the show on a high note, but with the previous songs being pretty 'tumblr-wave' (music popular on teenage tumblr blogs) this seemed like a surprising choice.
